SECTION 6 – Discourse analysis

Discourse analysis is the study of language in use, focusing on larger units of communication beyond the level of the sentence. It involves the analysis of spoken or written texts, conversations, and interactions, as well as the social and cultural context in which they occur.

In the teaching of English, discourse analysis is important because it provides insights into the communicative functions of language and helps learners to develop their communicative competence.
