Phonetics
Phonetics is the study of the sounds used in speech, including how they are produced, perceived, and classified. In English, there are 44 phonemes, or distinct sounds, which are essential for communication. It is important for teachers to have a strong understanding of phonetics in order to accurately identify and correct pronunciation errors for their students. Teaching phonetics can also improve students’ listening skills and overall language comprehension, as they become more familiar with the sounds and rhythms of English.
